New York steak with garlic and red wine

Recipe & Food Styling Marisa Curatolo, Photography Cory Aronec

New York – also known as a strip loin, this lean cut of beef is most suitable as a slicing steak... although premium, the most inexpensive of our cuts. When grilled and sliced, a New York brings new life to a wrap, a salad or a toasted baguette.

Ingredients

2 (12-ounce) New York steaks, 1-inch thick

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1/4 cup dry red wine

4 cloves garlic, minced

Sea salt and freshly ground pepper

Preparation

In shallow glass bowl, combine olive oil, red wine and garlic. Add steaks and turn to coat. Cover and chill for 1 hour.

Preheat grill to high; lightly oil grill and reduce to medium-high heat. Season with salt and pepper. Grill steaks 6 to 8 minutes per side for medium rare. Remove from grill. Cover and let stand 20 minutes before slicing.

Serve with homemade French Fries (get the recipe)
