Sex in a Pan Re-Invented
I was gifted this recipe by my mother-in-law, a recipe gifted from her mother-in-law, hand-written in the 1950’s or 60’s. The recipe said “Absolutely no substitutes!" So precious.
Of course, I had to put my spin on it, as I no longer use Cool Whip or pudding from packages. So, here is my take on this generational hand-me-down made completely from scratch! This is the recipe that brings families together and the conversation flowing. “Are we having sex in a pan? “
Ingredients
Base
1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup melted salted butter
Topping
8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup icing sugar
2 cup whipped cream (1 cup 35% whipping cream, 1 tablespoon icing sugar, ½ teaspoon good vanilla)
2 cups prepared vanilla pudding
2 cups prepared chocolate pudding
2 cups whipped cream (Mari’s recipe)
For base, mix and put in a 9 x13 pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Chill completely.
Layer with vanilla pudding, then chocolate pudding, then whipped cream. Top with milk chocolate shavings.
Refrigerating bar first makes it easier to shave. Can be made in advance and keeps well refrigerated.
